Energy Management
Rising and unpredictable energy costs make it difficult to operate
your plant and manage your budget for facility improvements. Can-Technologies
understands, and our energy experts can help you translate energy
challenges into opportunity with an energy audit contract.
The concept behind performance energy audit contracts is simple:
they leverage money saved on energy and operating costs to pay for
plant improvements. Through energy-saving improvements, you can
save from 10 percent to more than 30 percent on energy bills.
Can-Technologies engineers have expertise
in power monitoring and energy saving applications. Our engineering
team performs comprehensive energy audits for industrial facilities.
Our broad expertise includes:
> Electric Arc Furnaces;
> Casters and Mills;
> Industrial Refrigeration Systems;
> Compressed Air Systems;
> Pump, Fan, and Blower Systems;
> Wastewater Processing Systems;
> Lighting Systems.
Energy audits are closely tailored to meet the needs of each customer. Can-Technologies begins by collaborating
with you and your staff to define your requirements. Then we'll conduct a thorough audit of your utility operations,
including electrical, lighting, heating, cooling and water to determine how much money we can help you save.
A key factor in any energy audit is the emphasis we place on data acquisition and monitoring the performance of customer systems.
Can-Technologies will typically install data-logging equipment on a project and monitor equipment power
consumption, operating parameters, and system performance. Coupled with customer input on operation of the facility and plant
recorded data, Can-Technologies then calculate energy savings from efficiency upgrades. From this we
can develop highly accurate models of system loads and performance and confidently determine the true energy savings that can be established.
In general, an energy audit will provide the following:
> Calculated energy cost savings and simple paybacks for each proposed upgrade;
> Estimated implementation and start-up costs based on quotes from suppliers of the customer's choice;
> Any financial incentives that may be provided by the utility and/or government;
> Equipment specifications and efficient operating standards.
Can-Technologies provides the technical and economic information necessary to successfully
implement energy efficiency upgrades. For each project, Can-Technologies generates a case study that outlines
each of the viable energy efficiency upgrades for the facility.
Many utilities and local governments offer incentives, tax credits, or loans to offset the cost of energy efficiency
projects. Typically, large utilities have set programs in place that provide incentives on an annual kWh energy and/or
demand kW power basis. With these programs, it is not unusual for 50% or more of the project cost to be covered. Please
visit Utility & Government Incentives to learn more about some of the programs that fund energy audit studies or provide
incentives for efficiency projects.
