SCADA/HMI
The term SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) typically
refers to systems where a central computer master or PLC masters
communicates to multiple remote RTU’s (Remote Terminal Units)
or PLC's using RTU or PLC data communication protocols including
protocols such as ModbusPlus, DH+ and Ethernet. The SCADA host will
perform centralized alarm management, data trending, and operator
display and control. With a SCADA system architecture, the host
communicates to the remote sites via protocol data communications.
A SCADA architecture can easily be expanded to handle additional
remote sites and I/O points.
In brief, SCADA applications visualize and control industrial processes.
They provide users with the capabilities and versatilities that today's
industiral processes demand.
